Regency Steel Asia Fund
Regency Steel Asia Pte Ltd is committed to supporting the long-term development of the steel, construction, and energy industries. In line with this commitment, the Company established the Regency Steel Asia Fund through an endowed gift of S$1.5 million to advance structural steel research and academic development.
Administered in collaboration with Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, the fund supports research initiatives, academic engagement, and student development in areas related to construction, offshore and onshore engineering, and the oil and gas sector. It also provides seed funding for pilot projects with strong potential for industrial application.

Supporting Future Talent
The fund plays an important role in developing the next generation of engineers and industry leaders by providing scholarships and bursaries to students at NTU.
Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to high-achieving Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents pursuing undergraduate studies at the College of Engineering or Nanyang Business School, promoting academic excellence and leadership development.
Bursaries
Bursaries provide financial assistance to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, supporting equitable access to education.

Project 1
High Strength Steel for Resilient Infrastructure
This research advances the application of high strength steel to enable structures with higher load capacity and reduced material usage, supporting more efficient and sustainable construction.
The project focuses on improving structural reliability under fire exposure, addressing a critical challenge in steel engineering. It evaluates material behaviour, structural performance of beams and columns, and connection systems under both normal and post-fire conditions.

- Development of predictive models for material properties and residual stresses
- Enhanced understanding of failure mechanisms and load capacity
- Recommendations to improve international design standards
- Improved design approaches for safer and more resilient structures
Project 2
High-Performance Stainless Steel Built-up Sections
This project explores innovative stainless steel built-up sections, designed to optimise strength-to-weight efficiency and provide greater flexibility in structural design.
Through the study of beams under transverse loading and columns under axial compression, the research enhances understanding of structural behaviour under demanding conditions.
Key contributions:
- Identification of failure mechanisms, including web crippling and buckling
- Evaluation of load-carrying capacity through testing and simulations
- Assessment and enhancement of design codes
- Development of improved design methods for efficient and durable construction
