OUR HISTORY
Over Two Decades of Steel Excellence
2004
Establishment
Regency Steel Asia Pte Ltd (RSA) was established in 2004 as a subsidiary of Mitsui & Co., Ltd., following the acquisition of Hong Leong Asia’s Structural Steel Division.
This marked the beginning of RSA’s role within Mitsui’s global marketing, distribution, steel trading, and infrastructure network.
Early Years
Building a Strong Foundation
RSA began as an inventory-based steel distributor in Singapore, specialising in plate and section steel.
With a strong focus on availability and reliability, the company built a solid customer base and established a strong market presence.
Expansion
Strengthening Regional Reach
As demand grew across the region, RSA expanded its sourcing capabilities, developing strategic partnerships with approximately 70 steel mills across multiple countries.
Sourcing from the best suppliers based on customer needs, RSA is able to offer a wider range of products, enhance supply reliability, and support customers across diverse industries and markets.
Transformation
Integrated Business Model
Building on its strong foundation as a stockist distributor, RSA progressively expanded its business to meet evolving customer needs and market demands.
The company first strengthened its core stockist operations, ensuring immediate availability of steel products and timely delivery based on client requirements. This was followed by the introduction of global trading business to enhance sourcing flexibility and price competitiveness. In addition, RSA expanded its value-added capabilities by introducing cut-and-bend services to support project-based requirements.
Today, these developments are supported by RSA’s core business pillars: Inventory + Just-in-Time (JIT) solutions and Global trading business.
Operational Strength
Logistics & Infrastructure
A key milestone for RSA was the establishment of its warehouse in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Strategically positioned near Johor Port at the southern tip of Peninsular Malaysia, and just across the Causeway from Singapore. Through its close partnership with a reputable and dynamic logistics provider in Malaysia, RSA further reinforces its ability to deliver consistent service quality and reliable delivery performance to the customers.
With an area of approximately 20,000 m² and a storage capacity of 70,000 tons, the facility enhances inventory management. Backed by an extensive inventory of steel plates, sections, profiles, and pipes etc., along with strong warehousing and logistics capabilities, RSA is well positioned to meet the diverse and evolving needs of its customers and business partners.
